God’s favor continues to be upon our ministry as He has provided us another enormous blessing. The pictures below are of the new home for FCA Baseball in the Dominican Republic. The Highlands Complex in Boca Chica is a ministry of the Rawlings Foundation and FCA Baseball is so thankful for the opportunity to partner with them and with SCORE International in effort to evangelize and disciple coaches and athletes through the game of baseball. On this wonderful facility are 3 baseball fields, a soccer field, dorm rooms that can house up to 900 people along with kitchen facilities and staff that are capable of feeding that many people 3 meals each day.
Local Dominican youth and their coaches will be brought onto this facility for short term st
ays where we will use the platform of baseball and the example set for us by our Lord Jesus Christ to serve their physical, mental, emotional, relational and spiritual needs. This complex is also the Dominican Republic training academy for the 2010 World Champion San Francisco Giants and is in walking distance to the training facilities of six other Major League Baseball teams (Reds, Cubs, Nationals, Mets, White Sox & Diamondbacks). Therefore the scope of our ministry in the D.R. will encompass coaches and athletes from the many impoverished villages within the region….”the least of these”….to the coaches and athletes throughout Major League Baseball.
Mike Shaheen, along with his wife Jodi and their children Wyman and Grace have relocated from their home here in Duluth, GA to this new facility in Boca Chica and are currently leading the long term mission on the ground. They serve as full time missionaries for FCA Baseball, and as the hands and feet of Christ in the Dominican Republic, they are fulfilling our mission to “Impact the world for Jesus Christ through the influence of coaches and athletes”. All the glory to God! For up to date information as to the impact being made on the ground there, CLICK HERE to view their blog
